Map Data
The Whereis® map database is built and maintained by Sensis in conjunction with Universal Publishers Pty Ltd. The map data is based on the same high quality database as used in
Whereis® In Car Navigation. For further information regarding our map database products please visit the
Digital Map pages.
For information about licensing the above data, contact Sensis on FREECALL™ 1800 819 527*.
The site also incorporates features of the Geoscience Australia GEODATA 250k topographic database, supplied by Geoscience Australia.
Map coverage within the Whereis® directions via the Sensis 1234 service is progressively updated in an effort to provide the most comprehensive and complete map database for Australia.
Currently the Whereis® directions via the Sensis 1234 service provides map data covering all of Australia. The detail and completeness of the data varies according to location. Capital city regions currently offer the highest level of map data.

Estimated Distance
The estimated distance for map routing is calculated using the departure and arrival streets input by the user. Distances are derived from the road network rather than 'as the crow flies'.
Additional Notes
The route presented is considered the simplest route between the departure and arrival address, using higher road classes (main roads) where possible.
In some cases route numbers are used on the maps rather than the known road names. This occurs mainly on Freeways, Motorways and Tollways.
Currently map routes can be generated within and between all capital cities and some major population centres such as the Central Coast in New South Wales, Wollongong, Geelong and the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, and the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
Australian cities contain many locations that are known as 'localities' rather than 'suburbs'. Localities do not have defined boundaries and often fall across multiple suburbs. When planning a route, the suburb name in a city should be used rather than a popular 'locality' name. For example use 'Box Hill North' or 'Surrey Hills' rather than 'Mont Albert', or use 'Darlinghurst' instead of 'Kings Cross'.
The map data used within the Whereis® directions via the Sensis 1234 service contains the same high quality navigational attributes as used by our In Car navigation database. Should you find any abnormalities or inconsistencies in your searches, please make use of our
feedback forms or contact the Whereis® Navigation Service Center on 1800 819 471.
