Leadership

Sensis is a wholly owned subsidiary of Telstra.

The Sensis Board
Sensis is governed by a Board of Directors, appointed by Telstra. The Board meets quarterly or at such other times as determined by the Chairman.

The role of the Board is to:

  • oversee and appraise Sensis' strategies, policies and performance;
  • protect and optimise Sensis' performance and build sustainable value;
  • set, review and ensure compliance with Sensis' values and governance framework; and
  • to inform Telstra of Sensis' performance and major developments affecting its state of affairs.

Board Members
Members of the Sensis Board are:

  • Chairman: David Thodey
  • Directors: Bruce Akhurst (Sensis CEO)
  • John Stanhope
  • Kate McKenzie
  • Company Secretary: Niki Hantzis

Board Committees
Two Board Committees have been established: an Audit, Business Risk and Compliance Committee comprising Bruce Akhurst and John Stanhope, and a Remuneration Committee comprising David Thodey, Bruce Akhurst and John Stanhope.

These Committees report to the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis.

Working with Sensis' Chief Executive Officer Bruce Akhurst to lead Sensis are two executive committees: the Executive Board and the CEO Leadership Team.

Executive Board
The Executive Board comprises the Chief Executive Officer Bruce Akhurst, Chief Financial Officer Silvio Santostefano, Chief Operating Officer Gerry Sutton, Chief Strategy Officer Geoff Avard and the General Manager Human Resources George Elsey.

The primary role of the Executive Board is to:

  • Formulate and drive 3 – 5 year global objectives for Sensis;
  • Define the business strategy, policies and processes to achieve Sensis’ objectives; and
  • Provide leadership, governance and a review framework for the implementation of Sensis’ objectives.

CEO Leadership Team
The CEO Leadership Team is comprised of the CEO and his direct reports, as well as the General Managers in charge of Marketing, Operations, Service and Delivery and the National Sales Directors for Yellow Pages and White Pages.

The primary role of the CEO Leadership Team is to lead and execute Sensis’ short and long term objectives within their business function.

Responsibilities of the CEO Leadership Team broadly include executing Sensis’ long-term strategy by formulating and driving the 0 – 1 year objectives for their business area to achieve the company objectives, and provide leadership, governance and a review framework for the implementation of initiatives.
