Bruce J. Akhurst Bruce J. Akhurst
Chief Executive Officer, Sensis

Bruce Akhurst assumed the role of Sensis CEO on 1 January 2005. In Telstra, the Sensis CEO position is of Group Managing Director (GMD) level and, as such, Bruce reports directly to the CEO of Telstra, and is a member of the Telstra Chief Executive Officer's Leadership Team. Bruce is responsible for Telstra's digital media strategy, including its investments in Pay TV company, FOXTEL. More recently in March 2005, Bruce was also appointed Chairman of the Foxtel board.

Prior to his current appointment, Bruce was GMD of Telstra Wholesale, BigPond™ and Media Services, in addition to being Telstra Group General Counsel and Sensis Chairman. Bruce joined Telstra as General Counsel in late 1996 and was appointed Group Managing Director Legal and Regulatory in early 1999. Before joining Telstra, Bruce was a Managing Partner at national law firm, Mallesons Stephen Jaques.



Thomas Arthur Thomas Arthur
General Manager, Digital Marketing Services & Verticals

Thomas Arthur is General Manager, Sensis Digital and Vertical Markets. He is responsible for building Sensis’ position in the rapidly expanding real estate, employment and accommodation markets as well as driving growth in the exciting area of digital marketing services. Thomas joined Sensis in August 2000 as General Manager, Telecommunications Solutions and held the position of General Manager, Product from August 2002 until November 2004.

Prior to joining Sensis, Thomas worked at Telstra where, since 1988, he held a range of senior roles including General Manager, Pricing and Marketing, President of Telstra China and Operations Manager for MobileNet. He was a member of the Federal Government's 1988 Telecommunications Policy Review.



Geoff Avard Geoff Avard
General Manager, Strategy

Geoff joined Sensis in July 2007 in the role of General Manager, Strategy. Most recently, Geoff was the Director of Strategy and Operations with European Directories, a pan-European directory and search company with operations in nine countries.

Geoff has a long history and broad experience in the directory and search industry, and previously worked at Sensis in a range of different roles including strategy, business development, marketing and operations.

Geoff holds a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from Monash University and Master of Business Administration from the University of Melbourne.



Amanda Brook Amanda Brook
General Manager Mobiles and General Manager Strategic Marketing

Amanda Brook joined Sensis in March 2004 as General Manager Marketing. In her current role as General Manager, Strategic Marketing, Amanda’s Marketing responsibilities include customer strategy (including consumer, advertiser and business services customers), market intelligence, brand strategy, customer information management and pricing. In April 2007, Amanda also assumed responsibility for Sensis’ Mobile portfolio, including Yellow™ Mobile, Whereis® Mobile, Whereis® Navigator, Sensis® Mobile, Citysearch Mobile® and Trading Post® Mobile.

Before moving to Sensis, Amanda has held positions as Chief Executive Officer, Sussan Retail, Chief Executive Officer, Creative Brands Pty Ltd. and Brand Leader, Priceline Pty Ltd. She has also been responsible for the roll-out of the Priceline Pharmacy franchise network and the launch of the Officeworks Superstores on behalf of Coles Myer Ltd.



George Elsey George Elsey
General Manager, Human Resources

George Elsey joined Sensis in October 2001 as General Manager, Human Resources. During his time at Sensis, George been instrumental in leading the employee People Commitment Program and the successful integration of CitySearch, LookSmart and Trading Post staff into Sensis following the acquisition of each company.

Before joining Sensis, George worked at Qantas for six years where he was Group General Manager Human Resources. In addition to Qantas, George has held senior human resources positions in the mining, meat and manufacturing industries. He has extensive experience in industrial relations, human resources, training and management development, designing and structuring businesses, and strategic change management.



Amy Green
General Manager – Field Marketing and Market Intelligence

Amy leads Sensis’ Field Marketing and Market Intelligence divisions and is responsible for growing Yellow revenue, usage and product profitability in our Metro and Regional markets.

Amy joined Sensis in 2008 with broad experience and a strong track record in the Yellow Pages industry in a variety of sales and marketing leadership positions. Amy started her Yellow Pages career as a Sales Consultant in Minneapolis (USA) and also held the positions of Market Manager, Customer Care Manager, Sales Staff Director and Sales Director/General Manager of Sales in Denver and Boulder, Colorado and Regional Marketing Director in Minneapolis.

She holds a BA in Advertising from the University of North Dakota and a Master of Business Communication from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.



Niki Hantzis Niki Hantzis
General Counsel

Niki Hantzis joined Sensis in January 2005 as General Counsel of the Legal group. Before joining Sensis, Niki spent five years with Telstra Wholesale, three of those as the General Counsel. Niki has a wide range of expertise in telecommunications, trade practices law and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Telstra, Niki worked with British Telecommunications plc in London and was a Senior Associate with Mallesons Stephen Jaques, specialising in telecommunications and commercial law.



Alicia Hare Alicia Hare
General Manager, Business Transformation

Alicia joined Sensis in June 2005 as the General Manager for Sensis Business Transformation. She is responsible for developing an execution change culture for Sensis to be able to deliver on its three-year strategy. This entails leading and implementing initiatives to ensure Sensis has a rigorous and disciplined business culture that continues to deliver consistent innovation and results.

Prior to joining Sensis, Alicia resided in the United States, where she worked with Fortune 500 companies, start-ups and governmental and education bodies.

Alicia was also a senior partner at Destra Consulting Group, LLC, and deployed successful change management and performance excellence initiatives and conducted system-wide organisational development and transformation. Alicia holds a Masters degree from Harvard University and a PHD in Education from the University of North Carolina.



Stephen Hughes Stephen Hughes
General Manager Sensis Classifieds

Stephen Hughes has responsibility for the strategic direction and daily operations of Sensis Classifieds, including the Trading Post® Group.

Stephen has held a variety of senior marketing and strategy roles within Sensis and the Classifieds business over the past nine years, including senior positions with Sensis Classifieds since the acquisition of the Trading Post® Group in 2004.

Stephen was instrumental in the rebranding of the Trading Post® in 2005, the acquisition of Sensis’ Chinese real estate website, SouFun, in 2006, and the recent development of the AutoCult website for motoring fanatics.

Prior to joining Sensis, Stephen gained extensive operational, financial and strategic experience at ANZ Bank. He also spent several years working for Ernst & Young.

Stephen is a Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA.



David McEwen Carol Johnson
Chief Operating Officer – Yellow & White Pages

Carol Johnson is responsible for the end-to-end operations of Sensis’ Yellow™ and White Pages® businesses, including both the print and online functions.

Working closely with Sensis’ product and marketing, and production & customer care departments, Carol’s role is to strengthen the Directories businesses through revenue growth, usage and ultimately greater profitability. Her unique insights into elevating the performance of sales teams, and continuous operational excellence, comes from her innate understanding of the importance of getting closer to the customer: a core value she is driving at Sensis.

With over 25 years of experience, Carol is considered a doyen of the Yellow Pages industry, serving on the board of the global Yellow Pages Association and acting as Chairperson of the Yellow Pages Publisher’s Sales Board.

Before joining Sensis, Carol held the position of Deputy CEO (Sales and Marketing) at Singapore Yellow Pages where she lead a turnaround to increase both revenues and usage across the Yellow and White Pages print and online businesses. Her focus on value-based consultative selling, supported by best in class management systems, created the ideal environment for success.

Prior to this, Carol was Vice President and General Manager, Sales and Customer Operations at U S West Dex in the United States. Under Carol’s leadership, the business produced higher published revenue growth than the rest of the industry for more than a decade – an unrivalled benchmark.

Carol has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Westmar University, Iowa, USA.



David McEwen David McEwen
Group General Manager, Production & Care

David is responsible for managing Sensis’ print production, publishing and customer support functions. In this role, he will concentrate on implementing continuous improvement across the business and delivering enhanced products and customer experience. David has 30 years of experience in publishing.

Prior to Sensis, David spent 27 years with Universal Publishers – six as Managing Director. During this time, he oversaw strong growth in Universal’s mapping business. David also worked closely with Telstra to introduce in-car navigation to Australia. David has an MBA from Macquarie University and is a graduate and fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.



Robert Rath Robert Rath
Vice President, Business Development & Integration, SouFun

Robert Rath is responsible for business development in China and integration at SouFun, China's number one real estate site, of which Sensis has a 51% share. Robert is based in Beijing, China. Robert is responsible for spearheading the future business development for Sensis in China along with identifying and exploiting mutually exclusive business opportunities between Sensis and SouFun.

Robert has been a member of the Sensis executive team for the past six years, most recently as General Manager, Sensis Interactive. In this role, Robert was responsible for 1234, sensis.com.au, and Sensis' growing portfolio of location and publishing services, including Whereis® and Universal Publishers.

Before joining Sensis, Robert worked at Telstra for seven years in Marketing and Sales management roles and most recently as National General Manager, Consumer Sales. Robert began his career at IBM in 1982, where he held various technical, sales and marketing positions. He has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.



Ernie Sampias Ernie Sampias
Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Sensis

Ernie is a certified public accountant who brings over 25 years of financial and strategic business experience to Sensis, gained in public and private companies throughout America, predominantly within IT, telecommunications and directories industries.

Most recently, Ernie was Executive Vice President and CFO of Spectralink Corporation, a wireless telephony equipment manufacturer, and CFO of Local Matters, a global provider of local search technology and media publishing solutions. During these appointments Ernie was responsible for finance and accounting operating controls, merger and acquisition and IPO activities.

Ernie has also held CFO roles for other US based organisations including McData Corporation, and Qwest Dex.



Chris Smith Chris Smith
General Manager, Online Search & Directories and
General Manager, Sensis Interactive

Chris Smith is responsible for the Sensis Online Search & Directories, including yellow.com.au and sensis.com.au, and the Sensis Interactive operations of the business, including voice services 1234 and 12456. Chris’ portfolio includes Australia’s leading mapping and navigation brands - UBD, Gregory’s and Whereis®.

Chris has been with Sensis since 1996. Prior to his current role, Chris was the Managing Director of Location Publishing, and was instrumental in developing Whereis® into one of the fastest-growing and most profitable parts of the Sensis business.

Chris has over 20 years experience in the internet, database, and mapping industry, and has worked for a variety of organisations including the United Nations, Computer Sciences Corporation and several universities in the United States.

Chris has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire, Master of Science degree from the University of Rhode Island, and a Graduate Certificate from the Australian Graduate School of Management.



Gerry Sutton Gerry Sutton
Chief Information Officer and General Manager, Product Capability

Gerry Sutton joined Sensis in 2005 as General Manager Sensis Strategy and became Chief Information Officer in August 2006.

Gerry is responsible for managing Sensis’ IT systems development and service delivery. Gerry also manages a centre of excellence dedicated to delivering new product capabilities for use across the Sensis network.

Joining Telstra in 1999, Gerry has led several significant initiatives within Foxtel and BigPond. He was instrumental in the restructuring of the Pay TV industry in Australia, and implemented Telstra’s bundling of Pay TV with telephony through the landmark regulatory decision in 2002. In addition, Gerry was also responsible for developing the strategy and management for content relationships, including AFL/NRL, V8 Supercars, Games, Music and Movies. Gerry maintains his Directorship of Telstra’s investment in Foxtel and is the Chairman of Adstream Australia.

Prior to Telstra, Gerry held several roles within Kodak over a 26 year period, commencing as an IT software engineer and progressing to President and CEO of Eastman Software, a Boston based workflow and e-commerce subsidiary of Eastman Kodak.



Megan Taylor Megan Taylor
(Acting) General Manager, Corporate Affairs

Megan Taylor was promoted to the position of (Acting) General Manager, Corporate Affairs in February 2008 (replacing Prue Deniz who is currently on maternity leave). Prior to this, she held several positions in Sensis, including Group Manager, Internal Communications.

Megan’s portfolio encompasses external and internal communication, corporate responsibility and corporate positioning.

She is responsible for the development and implementation of communication strategies that aim to position Sensis and its products and brands with the company's key internal and external stakeholders to positively influence Sensis' reputation and image.

Megan joined Sensis in 2000.
