Community Involvement

Sensis is committed to supporting Australian communities and supporting our people in their own community contribution activities. To facilitate this commitment, in February 2006 Sensis established the Sensis in the Community program.

National Community Partnerships – Connecting People with Information through Technology
Sensis will partner with organisations to deliver positive change in the community around the theme: "Sensis connects people with information through technology". Sensis has 2 national partnerships with The Smith Family and GreenPC:

The Smith Family – Through our partnership with The Smith Family, Sensis connects disadvantaged Australians with greater access to technology. We do this by supporting The Smith Family's Learning for Life program, including Home Work Centres and Education Support Workers. GreenPC - Through our partnership with GreenPC, Sensis aims to provide technology to Australians in need. Sensis will donate old and unused computers to Green PC. They will be refurbished, distributed and will connect disadvantaged Australians with technology. For more information about GreenPC visit www.greenpc.com.au.

.au Community Domains partner - Sensis is proud to be the foundation partner of .au Community Domains - a world-first initiative, giving local communities a home on the net.

.au Community Domains aims to support communities who want to register their geographic domain name for a community website portal and process applications for the purpose of preserving Australian geographic names for use by the relevant local community.

As society becomes increasingly global, there’s a growing need for local, relevant information. Sensis is committed to helping Australian communities better access the information they need.

Sensis is lending its support to .auCD in a range of ways, such as connecting communities with easy access to relevant local information through the Sensis® network, including yellow.com.au and whereis.com.

Whether searching for products, businesses, places or people, local communities will have access to information that is relevant and meaningful to where they live.

It’s part of Sensis’ ongoing commitment to connecting and supporting local communities.

In the Local Community
Sensis will partner with regional organisations to deliver positive change in local communities in which we operate around the theme: 'Sensis – involved in local communities'. On an annual basis, regional offices will be allocated funds to invest in their local community. This investment can take the form of, but is not limited to, support of a local organisation, charity, community fund, town development project or local event.

Employee Involvement
Sensis supports its people in community giving and support through:

• 1 day paid volunteer leave through team volunteering and staff community support programs
• Matched staff donations to any registered charity to a cap of $500 per employee annually
• Sensis supports four national fundraising campaigns from Charity Partners each year
• A community champion network of Sensis representatives around the country act as champions to promote and support community activities in their offices

Sensis proudly supports six Australian charities. Sensis Charity Partners receive fundraising support from Sensis offices around Australia and advertising support across the Sensis network.
