Bruce Lund, Development Manager, Wireless & Location (VIC) “I joined Sensis as a Business Analyst years ago on contract. My experience on the project I worked on was so positive that when an opportunity came up to go full time I took it, moving to Programme Management for the Wireless & Location group managing the projects pipeline for Whereis.com and, the then new area, mobiles product development.
Within 2.5 yrs another opportunity arose to take over a Development Manager role and I jumped at this opportunity - not just because the technical environment was exciting but because the team I would inherit was so fantastic. As a Development Manager for Wireless and Location (now known as Maps & Mobiles) I manage several teams including Java Developers, Mobile User Interface developers, and Geographical Information Systems specialists (for our maps systems). Collectively we manage the
software development lifecycle for key Sensis products such as Whereis.com and all mobile products such as Yellow Mobile, Whitepages Mobile, Whereis Mobile, Trading Post Mobile. Our products are constantly evolving, and so the environment is very challenging and fast paced. The team culture is unique in my professional experience. We highly value technical skill, communication, autonomy and imagination. It really suits those that love technical challenges and ’green field' development! We get involved in such projects as on-line and mobile mapping, and development of market leading applications for mobiles, including the iPhone platform. We work in the most exciting parts of the consumer web - both on-line and mobile. I think it is our immersion in these really interesting technologies, market leading products, and our commitment to our people that sees retention in this area as being really high.” | |
