“I joined Sensis as a university graduate looking to gain experience in the GIS (Geographical Information Systems) industry. I started as a GIS Technician, was then promoted to a GIS Officer, and I am now a Team Leader with around 15 direct reports. I have found hard work and dedication is certainly rewarded by career progression at Sensis.

The use of Satellite Navigation has exploded in recent years, and with WhereIs at the forefront of the industry it is exciting to be involved with cutting edge Technology. We have added new features to our navigation product with each release, and my job involves managing my team to ensure these features are integrated on time and to the high quality expected from a Sensis product. This role has exposed me to a variety of learning avenues, including the University of Sensis, that have allowed me to build on my technical knowledge and also further develop my managerial skills.

Working for Sensis has also given me the opportunity to travel. As a GIS Officer I accepted a field role for the GPS capture of rural roads. During the 8 month role I saw a great deal of Australia including the far north of QLD, the wine regions of SA, the north coast of NSW, Margaret River in WA, and everything in between!”

“I wanted to work in marketing for a leading corporate organisation based in Melbourne CBD that was doing some interesting things in the digital market. Sensis was the perfect choice! Now I’m lucky enough to head up the marketing team for ones of Australia’s leading digital publishers – it’s a dream job.

There is no typical day as it’s always different and dynamic! Some days I might be trawling through image libraries looking for the perfect picture to drop into a presentation whilst other days I’m analysing data and reports. Usually I spend time speaking with my team, our sales guys, research and my various agencies about campaigns we have in market, presentations or media interviews we are giving or collateral we are developing. And of course there are always plenty of emails to be answered. One thing for sure, digital media is never dull!
